Matters of the Heart

Am I going to like what my Doctor has to say?

According to generally reliable reports, not everyone's heart will beat indefinitely into the future. Of course, if you are an exception to this 'rule' then perhaps we should talk.

As part of our lifelong process many considerations may need to come into play before the last beat. Some of us never entertain those 'considerations' and may have reason to regret that decision or indecision as it happens.

Related to these natural life forces we should, at the least, consider such things as Organ Donation, Medical Directives, Incapacitation and Funerals, Personal Emergency Contact Cards and extra Ordinary needs are a related consideration. I will touch on each of these individually.

Organ Donations

Life is a very precious gift that most of us feel is well worth celebrating. As it relates to
Organ Donation there are generally two potential scenarios.

Medical Directives

None of us know when some catastrophe will change our lives forever. Extra Ordinary Resuscitation Directives or Do Not Resuscitate Orders and much more will need to be considered.

Incapacitation

Perhaps the most dreaded circumstance that we face in life is Incapacitation. It can be the result of an accident, short and long term illness, loss of capacity; even a house fire can be considered to be a form of incapacitation.

Funerals

The subject of Funerals seems to create challenges for some of us. We plan for our children (except for the first one I've been told), weddings, savings plans, vacations, retirement, what will be on the table for Sunday's dinner, yet we don't plan for death.

Emergency Contact Cards

Yes, we should all carry them. An Emergency Contact Card is so very important to best
protect Asset #1 (you).
